Florida whacko claims he was ‘teleported’ into stolen BMW by ‘X-Men’: ‘You saved me from the aliens’
Police body‑cam footage from a routine patrol in Ormond Beach, Florida, shows a bewildering scene that quickly turned chaotic.
Calvin Johnson, 36, was taken into custody after slashing the unlocked hood of a 2018 BMW parked in Bicentennial Park. The vehicle was later found heavily damaged on the highway, having been barreled off the road at about 130 mph and left in the trees and brush. The car’s owner, who had been walking his dog, discovered the keys had been abandoned in the cupholder and reported the theft when he returned.
When officers arrived at the wreck, they saw Johnson in a blood‑stained state, attempting to justify the crash. “I don’t know how I get in the car,” he said, stuttering to a deputy. “I don’t know, I teleported.” He went on to explain that “the X‑Men” had instructed him to take the vehicle, adding, “I don’t do that stuff. Someone told me to get in there. Someone’s in my head. Thank you for saving me. I don’t know how I got in there. You saved me from the aliens.” The comments, recorded on the officers’ body‑cams, were part of an attempt to claim supernatural influence over his actions.
Bystanders at the scene scrambled to stop a small fire that had broken out around the car and nearby brush. Many observers noted that Johnson’s seatbelt likely prevented a more serious injury. He was treated on site and later taken to a local hospital before being booked into the Volusia County Branch Jail. The charges against him include grand theft of a motor vehicle and operating with a suspended license.
