Young Veer Ganapathy hopes to learn from Kolkata’s loss as Aman seeks a hat-trick on IGPL Jamshedpur
Aman Raj is chasing history at the Indian Golf Premier League (IGPL) Invitational in Jamshedpur. The 30‑year‑old, who already won in Jaipur and Kolkata, wants to claim a third straight title for the first player ever to win three IGPL events in a row.
After finishing the tournament in Jaipur with a record 61 and repeating the feat in Kolkata, Raj has been in sensational form. In his last six rounds he shot 61 three times and has already earned over ₹50 lakh in just five IGPL starts. “Three 61s in four rounds feel huge,” he said. “The money matters, but improving my game is even bigger.”
The event was hosted by former BJP minister Arjun Munda in Jamshedpur, and the field featured a mix of seasoned pros and young talent. Thirteen‑year‑old honeypot Young Veer Ganapathy battled competitively, finishing as runner‑up in Kolkata and saying, “I learned a lot even though I lost the last hole.” Former All India Amateur champion Aryan Roopa Anand took third, while Samarth Dwivedi came in fourth in Kolkata.
A new supporter joined the field: 17‑year‑old Veer celebrated his first pro season and spoke about the challenge he faced against Raj. The legendary tennis star Leander Paes arrived in Jamshedpur to watch the final round and praised young players Ganapathy and Kartik Singh as future stars.
Other IGPL players highlighted their progress. Alpa IL praised the tour’s physiotherapist Sushila for helping his recovery during the event. Syed Saqib Ahmed finished tied for fifth in Kolkata, and Olympic medallist Udayan Mane, who debuted at Jaipur, feels ready for a winning run.
The Rs 1.5 crore IGPL Invitational is the sixth stop after Chandigarh, Jaypee Greens NOIDA, Pune, Jaipur and Kolkata. Earlier winners included Gaganjeet Bhullar (Chandigarh & Jaypee Greens) and Kapil Kumar (Pune), while Aman Raj now adds Jaipur and Kolkata to his growing list of victories.
