Youth Asian Para Games: India shines as Baby Sahana Ravi wins gold, Vishwa Vijay Tambe secures silver in para table tennis
New Delhi, December 12 – India’s para‑athletes continued to impress back home, clinching spectacular wins that showcase their resilience, spirit and determination at the 2025 Youth Asian Para Games in Dubai.
In a landmark triumph, Baby Sahana Ravi took gold in the Class SF‑9 (Under 23) division of para table tennis, dispatching Philippines’ Lhey Marie Manginsay in straight sets. Her success highlights both her personal commitment and India’s rising profile in the sport worldwide.
Joining the celebrations, Vishwa Vijay Tambe earned silver in the Class SM‑10 event after a hard‑pressed battle against North Korea’s Kwang Nam So. Although he finished just shy of the top spot, the athlete’s grit, tactical play and competitive edge earned cheers from fans and coaches alike.
The Youth Asian Para Games 2025 ran from December 10 to 13 in Dubai, UAE, marking the fifth edition of this respected continental competition. The Games featured 11 sports – archery, athletics, badminton, boccia, goalball, powerlifting, swimming, taekwondo, table tennis, wheelchair basketball and armwrestling – drawing the finest young para‑athletes from the region.
India sent a 99‑strong team, including 61 men and 38 women, who competed in eight sports. The delegation’s presence underscores the country’s commitment to inclusivity and equal access in athletics. With guidance from seasoned coaches, physiotherapists and mentors, the athletes displayed significant progress across a range of events.
Baby Sahana Ravi’s and Vishwa Vijay Tambe’s remarkable performances are expected to inspire a new generation of para‑athletes in India, reaffirming the nation’s growing influence in global para‑sport.
