In Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh, a prominent Muslim leader is urging everyone to keep the peace as Friday prayers approach. Maulana Mufti Shahabuddin Razvi Bareilvi, president of the All India Muslim Jamaat, made a heartfelt call to the public—especially the Muslim community—to stay calm and avoid any trouble.
Police have ramped up security across the city, deploying Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC), Rapid Action Force (RAF), and intelligence teams in sensitive spots. This comes after recent unrest tied to religious sentiments, and officials are determined to maintain law and order.
“Today marks Friday prayers, and sadly, the last incident happened on a Friday too,” Maulana Razvi said. “I appeal to all, particularly Muslims: Our city is peaceful right now, with no disputes. We must protect that. Bareilly represents the beautiful Ganga-Jamuni culture and civilization—our shared heritage. Everyone has a duty to stop anyone trying to tarnish it.”
Mosques in Bareilly will hold Friday prayers starting around 1:00 p.m., and with the city’s history of tensions, authorities are taking every precaution to ensure smooth proceedings.
Maulana Razvi advised worshippers to pray and head straight home afterward. “Skip crowds, processions, or protests,” he said. “If someone— even from outside Bareilly—tries to stir you up, tell the police right away. Focus on your daily life, not distractions from any individual or group.”
He also encouraged spreading love for Prophet Muhammad quietly. “Keep that love in your heart, not on banners, slogans, or public shows,” he added. “Avoid demonstrations—let’s make peace our priority.”
This message follows recent clashes in Bareilly sparked by “I love Muhammad” slogans and protests, which led to violence and a heavy police response. Since then, officials have stayed vigilant against any communal provocations or gatherings.
