Rishab Shetty, the star and director behind the hit film Kantara, just shut down a viral fake poster that’s been buzzing on social media. The poster claims to promote something called “Kantara Sankalpa,” a supposed self-challenge for fans planning to catch Kantara: Chapter 1 in theaters on October 2. It lists three “divine steps” to follow beforehand: skip alcohol, avoid smoking, and steer clear of non-vegetarian food. Fans are even encouraged to fill out a Google form to snag a certificate of participation.
Shetty addressed the buzz at a recent press conference, calling the whole thing bogus. “The production house has no connection whatsoever with this poster,” he said. “When I saw it, I was shocked myself.” He quickly checked with his team and stressed that no one has the right to judge others’ personal choices on food or lifestyle. “These are each individual’s decisions,” he added firmly.
The timing couldn’t be better—or more exciting—for the real hype around Kantara: Chapter 1. The film’s trailer dropped on Monday, building massive anticipation after the massive success of the original Kantara back in 2022. Makers at Hombale Films kept the trailer mysterious, revealing just enough to hook viewers without spoiling the story’s cultural roots.
This sequel is Hombale’s biggest project yet, packed with top talent. Composer B. Ajaneesh Loknath brings the gripping soundtrack, while cinematographer Arvind Kashyap and production designer Vinesh Banglan craft its stunning visuals and emotional depth.
