Hyderabad – On Tuesday, Telangana’s Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy announced the installation of Telangana Thalli statues at every district Collectorate throughout the state. The reveal took place virtually from the Telangana Rising Global Summit site, which is set to become the upcoming Bharat Future City nearby.
This ceremony was part of the Praja Palana celebrations marking the Congress government’s second year in power. The statues, costing Rs 5.8 crore in total, were placed in all 33 district offices. The Chief Minister, Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatī Vikramāra, and other ministers presented flowers to the statues at the summit venue, while the state anthem “Jaya Jayahe Telangana” echoed in the background.
During the event, Revanth Reddy sent his best wishes to residents across Telangana. He recalled that on 9 December 2009, the then Congress leadership—under UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh—announced the move to create Telangana, fulfilling four crore citizens’ long‑held dreams. Because of this significance, the Congress declared the day “Telangana Thalli Avatharanotsavam.”
He noted that the previous year a Telangana Thalli statue was placed in the state Secretariat, symbolising a fresh impetus for governance. He also mentioned Sonia Gandhi’s 2004 pledge in Karimnagar to honour Telangana’s aspirations, which she kept true to, even when faced with challenges.
The Chief Minister added that 9 December is also Sonia Gandhi’s birthday, and that the state will keep driving welfare and development with inspiration drawn from her commitment and Manmohan Singh’s vision. Pre‑event, he used “X” to reach out to the public and wrote, “Telangana Thalli is not just a concept. It is the emotion of 4 crore children. That emotion finds its full embodiment in our Telangana Thalli.” He went on, “Telangana Thalli is the embodiment of the power that united and led all sections of society during the long struggle for statehood. Telangana Thalli is the maternal figure who infused life into the sense of Telangana identity by bringing together the thoughts, actions, and efforts of four crore people. Our Telangana Thalli is the great inspiration that continuously awakens us and guides us toward our goals.”
