A deadly crash on NH‑52 near the town of Chomu in Jaipur, Rajasthan, left four people dead and three badly injured. The incident happened around 3 a.m. on Wednesday when a speed‑ing Land Rover Thar lost control and slammed into three motorcycles that were traveling ahead of it. One rider died instantly, while the other six suffered serious injuries.
The victims were all from the same family and were on their way home after visiting the Khatushyam temple in the Sikar district. They had been riding the motorcycles when the Thar struck them. The impact was severe, crushing the motorcycles and causing the vehicle to ram the riders into the road.
Local residents heard the crash and alerted the authorities. Police officer Pradeep Sharma, in charge of Chomu Police Station, said the emergency services first rushed the injured to Chomu Government Hospital, then transferred them to SMS Hospital in Jaipur for specialised care. Tragically, three of the injured – including a woman – died on or after arrival at the hospital, bringing the death toll to four.
Police identified the deceased as Virendra Srivastava (55), his son Sunil Srivastava (50), and brothers Lucky Srivastava (30) and Shweta Srivastava (26), all residents of Jaipur’s Vaidyaji Ka Chowraha and Brajwadi Colony. The injured riders, Avinash (30), his three‑year‑old son Raunak, and Sangeeta – wife of Virendra Srivastava – remain in critical condition at SMS Hospital.
Investigators seized the Thar involved in the crash and are probing why it was traveling so fast. Early findings suggest excessive speed and reckless driving as the likely causes of the fatal collision. The authorities are working to prevent similar road accidents on NH‑52 and are urging drivers to adhere to speed limits and practice safe driving.
