Ahmedabad, India – The Statue of Unity in Gujarat is getting ready for a big celebration. On October 31 the giant statue will host a ceremony for Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s 150th birthday and the National Unity Day, called Rashtriya Ekta Diwas.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will kick off the event. He said the nation keeps growing “many states, one country; many cultures, one India.” That idea—“Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat”—guides the plans for the day.
A parade will march through Ekta Nagar, a spot set up just like the famous Republic Day parade in New Delhi. Sixteen groups of police and border guards—like the BSF, CRPF, CISF, ITBP, SSB, and several state police units—will show off their uniforms, flags, and traditions. Medal winners, including heroes from the BSF’s “Operation Sindoor” and CRPF’s gallantry awards, will join the fun.
The procession will also feature ten spectacular tableaux made by states and union territories such as Jammu & Kashmir, Andaman & Nicobar, Puducherry, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Manipur, Chhattisgarh, and Uttarakhand. Each tableau will display India’s heritage and achievements.
Music fans will enjoy nine army and police bands. Four award‑winning school bands will play, and special shows like the NSG’s Hell March, an Assam Police motorcycle stunt, and a dog show featuring BSF’s Indian breeds will add excitement.
Before the parade, Modi will plant flowers at the Statue of Unity. He will then receive a Guard of Honour from the CAPF and Gujarat Police teams.
After the parade, the big bang will be the 15‑day cultural festival, Bharat Parv 2025, running from November 1 to 15. Visitors can sample more than 45 food stalls, shop at 55 handicraft and handloom booths, watch live cooking shows, and see performances from 28 states and 8 union territories. The festival ends with a Cyclothon on November 17, where over 5,000 cyclists from all over India join.
From 7 to 11 p.m., Ekta Nagar will light up for the “Ekta Prakash Parv.” The Valley of Flowers turns into 13 themed light zones with art installations and selfie spots.
On November 15, the celebration will remember Birsa Munda, the famous tribal leader, with a special performance. The National School of Drama will also present “Lohpurush,” a play about Sardar Patel’s life and legacy.
Chief Secretary Pankaj Joshi and DGP Vikas Sahay say the event is in the final stages of preparation, with both the Centre and Gujarat government working together to make sure the celebrations run smoothly.
