PM Modi Steps In to Help Uttarakhand After Devastating Cloudburst in Dehradun
In a show of strong support, Prime Minister Narendra Modi picked up the phone on Tuesday to chat with Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami. They discussed the tough situation in Dehradun after a sudden cloudburst hit the Sahastradhara area in Karligaad. This natural disaster has left locals reeling from heavy damage and two people missing.
CM Dhami gave the Prime Minister a clear update on the ground realities, including the fast-paced rescue and relief operations underway. PM Modi promised full backing from the central government, saying it "stands firmly with Uttarakhand in this hour of disaster." It’s a big boost for the state as teams work around the clock to help those affected by the heavy rainfall and flooding.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah also jumped into the conversation, calling CM Dhami to talk about the heavy rain chaos. He assured quick help from the Home Ministry and stressed that the Centre will back every effort in rescue and relief work. This coordination between leaders shows how seriously the nation is taking the Uttarakhand cloudburst crisis.
The cloudburst struck late Monday night in Karligaad, a popular spot in Dehradun’s Sahastradhara tourist area. It unleashed a torrent of debris that wrecked two to three big hotels and several shops in the main market. The destruction didn’t stop there—similar reports poured in from Rishikesh and Haldwani, where swollen rivers and fallen debris have thrown daily life into disarray.
CM Dhami thanked PM Modi and Home Minister Shah for their guidance, saying it will speed up relief work across the state. "With their cooperation, we’ll get things moving faster," he added. The administration is on high alert, running rescue operations like a well-oiled machine.
Dhami didn’t just talk—he rolled up his sleeves and visited the rain-hit spots in Dehradun district on Tuesday. Local MLAs and top officials joined him, sharing details on the full extent of the damage from the cloudburst in Uttarakhand.
Rescue teams from SDRF, NDRF, and the Public Works Department are all hands on deck. They’ve brought in JCB machines and other gear to clear the mess and aid those in need. As Uttarakhand battles this heavy rainfall aftermath, the focus stays on safety and quick recovery for everyone impacted.
