Shiv Sena(UBT) continues attacking Dy CM Shinde, says Maha govt ‘boastful’

Shiv Sena UBT Slams Maharashtra Government as ‘Braggers’ Over PM Modi’s Praise

Mumbai: The Shiv Sena Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray (UBT) faction fired sharp criticism at the Maharashtra government on Friday, calling it a team of "braggers." They targeted Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and his deputies, Eknath Shinde and Ajit Pawar, for spending more time boasting than delivering real results.

This strong reaction came after the leaders heaped praise on Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his birthday celebrations. They highlighted how Modi has transformed lives across India. Shiv Sena UBT zeroed in on Deputy CM Shinde for splashing a full-page ad on Modi’s ambitious Viksit Bharat 2047 vision, which aims for a developed India by 2047.

In its mouthpiece newspaper Saamana, Shiv Sena UBT published a hard-hitting editorial. It accused Fadnavis, Shinde, and Pawar of exaggerating Modi’s development achievements. The piece pointed out that Maharashtra, once a prosperous state, now battles a massive public debt of Rs 9.50 lakh crore. "In just the last three months, the government borrowed another Rs 24,000 crore, piling on more debt," the editorial noted.

The attack grew fiercer as they mocked Fadnavis’s promise to create one crore ‘Lakhpati Didis’ – women earning at least Rs 1 lakh annually. "Maharashtra is sinking into chaos with peak corruption and looting," it said. The editorial claimed leaders from Shinde and Pawar’s parties have grown rich through contractor kickbacks. "They don’t care if the state drowns in debt or if farmers take their lives due to loans and droughts," it added.

Shiv Sena UBT hit back at Shinde’s pledge to bring development to every last person. "True progress starts with villages – only then can talukas, districts, states, and the country thrive," the editorial argued. They also mocked Shinde’s claim that he visits his native village to recharge by working on his farm. "But farmers in Maharashtra face a grim reality," it said. Crops get ruined by floods and heavy rains, and farmers beg officials during damage assessments. In the past eight days alone, 17 farmers died by suicide, with over 2,000 cases in the last year. "Lakhs of farmers are buried in debt, their smiles wiped away. So, what magic farm does Shinde have that keeps him looking fresh? What steps is he taking to bring back joy to these struggling families?"

The editorial ramped up the criticism of Shinde, calling his development talk a "joke." It highlighted villages in his own Thane district that still lack basic roads, schools, and health services. "During monsoons, kids slog through mud or floodwaters to reach school. Sick or pregnant women travel by palanquin to the nearest taluka. Yet Shinde enjoys all the perks of progress," it said.

In a sarcastic twist, Shiv Sena UBT taunted Shinde for arriving at his fields by helicopter when he needs a break. "He might look evergreen, but the people aren’t smiling. Open those fields for tourism – let everyone see what grows there. Millions of farmers could learn from his ‘lush’ farming secrets," the piece jabbed.

This outburst underscores the ongoing political rivalry in Maharashtra, with Shiv Sena UBT questioning the government’s focus on hype over helping everyday people like farmers and villagers.
