In Hyderabad, a large blaze broke out Monday night at an electronics shop in the historic part of the city, leaving six people hurt. The fire ignited during a short‑circuit incident, decimating the store. An additional calamity occurred when a CNG cylinder in a car parked outside detonated, setting the flames in motion and spreading them rapidly.
Eight fire engines, a skylift truck, and a firefighting robot were dispatched. Firefighters spent more than two hours suppressing the inferno. The blaze leapt to a neighboring warehouse and several other storefronts, causing extensive property damage. A nearby clothing shop was also destroyed, and windows in surrounding homes shattered from the blast.
Investigators suspect that the fire intensified when refrigerator cylinders, geysers, and other electronics stored in the shop also exploded. Deputy Commissioner of Police Khare Kiran Prabhakar confirmed that the incident initially began from a short circuit. The CNG vehicle caught fire, and its cylinder’s explosion fed the flames, leading to the widespread damage.
There were a few staff members in the shop and a few passengers in the car. The combination of the fire and the explosion left six individuals injured and hospitalized. The DCP reported that firefighters had successfully brought the situation under control, preventing further catastrophe.
He cautioned residents against believing unverified rumors on social media, urging them to rely only on official police updates to avoid needless panic. Witnesses described a loud explosion heard up to a kilometer away, upending those nearby. Locals also claimed that the clock on the Rajarai Clock Tower stopped at the exact moment of the blast.
