TMC to launch week-long block-level outreach from tomorrow, eyes 2026 Bengal polls

In West Bengal, the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) is turning the holiday season into a political blitz. From October 5 to 12, the party will host a week‑long “Vijaya Sammelani” in every block of the state – a series of post‑Durga Puja gatherings aimed at strengthening ties with voters ahead of the 2026 assembly elections.

The campaign is all about face‑to‑face contact. More than 50 senior TMC leaders—including MPs, MLAs, state ministers and student activists—will travel to local communities. They will chat with ordinary people, listen to their grievances from the local administration, and share the achievements of Mamata Banerjee’s government over the past fifteen years.

“The Trinamool leadership wants to seize every chance to reach the people during this festive period,” said a senior cabinet member. “Through the Vijay Sammelani, we will show how the central government has neglected West Bengal and how the Mamata Banerjee government has delivered.”

TMC’s General Secretary and Lok Sabha MP Abhishek Banerjee kicked off the plan with a briefing for party leaders. He urged workers to “go out farther in places where Trinamool has weak organisational strength” and explained that the week‑long outreach will be a key tool to expand the party’s reach. His meeting with district leaders just before Durga Puja set the stage for the campaign.

Mamata Banerjee, the West Bengal Chief Minister, is also on the front line. She is expected to attend similar gatherings in Kolkata, engaging especially with industrialists and community groups. The chief minister is campaigning for a fourth term in the upcoming 2026 elections, and the outreach program is part of her strategy to mobilise voters and highlight national issues such as the treatment of Bengali workers in BJP‑ruled states.

With the next state assembly elections just a year away, TMC’s Vijaya Sammelani looks to turn the festive energy into political momentum. The party hopes to show that it still has the support of ordinary citizens, secure Mamata Banerjee’s re‑election, and continue its record of making West Bengal progress.
