New Delhi – As Bihar’s first‑phase assembly elections enter the nomination stage, BSP MP Ramji Gautam affirmed the party’s plan to field a full slate of candidates and to release the first list today.
Gautam told that the Bahujan Samaj Party will contest all 115 seats in the state “with full strength.” He added the party’s first batch—about 100 seats—will be announced “immediately.” The announcement comes while candidates file nominations for 121 seats across 18 districts as voters prepare for the November 6 polls.
When asked whether the BSP would tie up with the National Democratic Alliance, Gautam said no. “We are an independent party with our own ideology,” he said. “We are not forming any alliance or partnership.”
The nomination deadline is looming. Key districts such as Patna, Vaishali, Saran, Muzaffarpur and Nalanda are already receiving filings. The Election Commission of India has issued notifications for 121 seats in Phase I. Political parties are pushing to finalize ticket allocations and strategies.
Sources say the NDA’s seat‑sharing talks are expected to wrap up within a day or two, with BJP’s state chief Dilip Jaiswal confirming a quick agreement. JD(U) and other allies also have their internal deals near completion.
In an unexpected side note, Gautam commented on a recent incident involving Chief Justice of India B.R. Gavai, where the judge was targeted with a shoe. He said the shoe had not been thrown but was meant to harm. “Such behaviour is unacceptable,” Gautam said. “We need a CBI probe to uncover who was behind it.”
The elections continue to heat up, with parties racing to lock in their final candidate lists ahead of the November vote.
