Education Minister launches book on Swami Vivekananda at Delhi University

Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan launched a new book on Thursday that brings Swami Vivekananda’s timeless wisdom to today’s youth. Titled Living The Vivekananda Way: Practical Spirituality For Modern India, the book comes from young authors Ananya Awasthi and Nikhil Yadav. The event took place at Delhi University in New Delhi.

Pradhan praised the authors for making Vivekananda’s ideas fresh and relevant. "This book captures the wisdom of Swami Vivekananda and makes it relevant for the present generation," he said while congratulating them.

After the launch, Pradhan chatted with reporters about the book’s impact. He highlighted how Vivekananda turned ancient Vedic and Upanishadic principles into practical lessons for society. "This is the core of our Gen Z inspiration," Pradhan added, noting the authors’ hard work in exploring Vivekananda’s life and teachings.

Delhi University Vice Chancellor Prof. Yogesh Singh also joined the conversation at the event. He shared Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s thoughts on Vivekananda’s strong belief in India’s youth. On January 12, 2025, Modi had said Vivekananda trusted the new generation to lead, calling them his future workers. "The Prime Minister said he trusts everything Swami Vivekananda says, and we trust everything the Prime Minister says," Singh remarked.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Pradhan called the launch a pleasure and commended the authors—Dr. Ananya Awasthi and Dr. Nikhil Yadav—for their initiative. He described the book as an engaging look at Vivekananda’s journey, serving as a practical guide for young people to embrace his enduring wisdom.

Pradhan went on to emphasize the role of Gen Z in India’s future. "Our Gen-Z are the biggest safeguards of our democratic ethos," he wrote. "They are a force that will unify and strengthen India." He pointed out Vivekananda’s key values: oneness, universal brotherhood, unity of all religions, and fearlessness. These ideas, Pradhan said, reflect the eternal spirit of Indian civilization. The minister is confident the book will motivate youth to adopt Vivekananda’s teachings and tackle modern challenges head-on.
