Horrific videos show teen driver speeding to 109 mph before smashing into cars, killing pregnant girlfriend and 2 others

The footage that has been circulating is truly chilling – it captures a teenage driver apparently pulling the throttle to over 100 mph and then deliberately plunging into a line of cars that were stopped at a red light. The crash took the life of his pregnant girlfriend and, tragically, has now claimed two more victims.

Those searing images were shown at a bail hearing for 19‑year‑old Jose Gutierrez, who is accused of the murder, on Thursday. That same day, a newlywed woman became the third person to die from the November 18 incident, according to prosecutors.

Counsel’s argument is that Gutierrez was accelerating to 109 mph in a 45‑mph zone before he consciously rammed the stationary vehicles, sending debris all over the intersection and setting one car on fire as it spun across the crosswalk.

“He hits [the gas] from about eight‑tenths of a mile away straight at a light that is dead red,” Chief Deputy District Attorney Nicholas Portz told reporters, as 8 News Now relayed the testimony.

The video itself shows a car tearing through the intersection in flames, a scene that 8 News Now filmed and credited. In a separate caption, prosecutors noted that a third victim had died the day of the hearing.

Gutierrez’s girlfriend, Adilene Duran Rincon, who was approximately three months pregnant, was killed when the crash occurred. He was driving her mom’s 2011 Infiniti G37 at the time. Prior to the incident, Gutierrez had faced charges of domestic abuse, had threatened a responding officer, and had frightened his partner by driving recklessly, according to the prosecutor’s statements.

Another casualty in the tragedy was 38‑year‑old Edward Garcia, whose death was confirmed at the scene. On Thursday, authorities announced that 25‑year‑old Vanessa Vasquez, who had been married only nine months, had succumbed to her injuries.

Gutierrez now stands on two counts of murder, with no change to the charges after Vasquez’s death, despite his plea for bail being denied. A panoramic shot of the day’s wreck shows twelve cars involved in the wreck; 8 News Now provided the graphic.

Gutierrez has tried to explain his actions by citing untreated seizures, but police countered that if severe enough to impair a driver, such a medical emergency would likely cause the vehicle to slow, drift off course, or otherwise lose speed.
