Himani Shivpuri expresses concern as cloudburst wreaks havoc in her hometown Dehradun

Veteran Actress Himani Shivpuri Shares Heartfelt Worry Over Cloudburst Damage in Dehradun

Mumbai-based actress Himani Shivpuri is deeply upset after a massive cloudburst hit the outskirts of her hometown Dehradun in Uttarakhand. The heavy rains have wreaked havoc, sinking roads and flooding the famous Tapkeshwar temple—a spot she loves visiting every Shivratri.

On Tuesday, the ‘Hum Aapke Hain Koun..!’ star posted a throwback photo on Instagram, showing her posing happily with a group of women. In her emotional caption, she wrote: “The road connecting my village has sunk, my hometown Dehradun outskirts affected by a cloudburst, Tapkeshwar temple where we used to go every Shivratri submerged….I pray for my Uttarakhand!” Her words capture the pain of seeing her beloved hometown battered by nature’s fury.

The disaster struck on September 15 when overnight heavy rains caused the Tamsa river to overflow in Uttarakhand. Floodwaters submerged the historic Tapkeshwar Mahadev temple in Dehradun, while roads caved in and debris swept through areas like Sahastradhara. Shops, houses, and hotels in the main market took a big hit, leaving locals to deal with the cleanup and recovery.

Himani’s connection to Dehradun runs deep. Just two months ago in July, she shared a touching video saying goodbye to her maternal home there. In it, she gazed at the misty hills and said, “Hi! It’s time to say goodbye to Dehradun. I want you all to enjoy the beautiful view of the hills with me. Just look at how the clouds are hiding behind them. It always feels a little emotional to leave your maternal home. Mom and Dad may not be here, but my brother, sister-in-law, and lots of relatives are. What makes Dehradun special is its fresh air and delicious street food. Bye-bye! Off to Mumbai—back to work now.” Her post highlighted the serene beauty of Uttarakhand’s hills, now overshadowed by this tragic flooding.

On the work front, Himani keeps audiences laughing as Katori Amma (or Katto Amma) in the popular TV show ‘Happu Ki Ultan Paltan’. Fans hope for quick relief efforts in Uttarakhand heavy rains affected areas, just like Himani’s prayers for her hometown’s safety and speedy recovery.
