President Droupadi Murmu highlighted the growing importance of statistics in our data-driven world during a speech to new officers on Monday. She stressed that accurate data is key to creating and carrying out smart policies that drive India’s progress.
Speaking to probationers from the Indian Statistical Service, Indian Skill Development Service, and Central Engineering Service in New Delhi, Murmu pointed out how countries with skilled workforces stand out. “Countries that develop a highly skilled workforce are better equipped to respond to global challenges and seize emerging opportunities in various areas of development,” she said.
She called skills and knowledge the real drivers of economic growth and social progress for any nation. As India pushes forward with technology-driven growth, Murmu urged young people to pick up advanced tech skills to stay ahead.
Murmu showed strong faith in the young Indian Skill Development Service officers. She said they will become expert skill administrators, helping build a strong, future-ready workforce that tackles India’s needs.
Turning to the Central Engineering Service officers, the president praised engineers for their big role in boosting a nation’s tech advances and economic growth. With the government’s big push on large-scale infrastructure development, she noted the engineering sector is poised for huge expansion.
Murmu encouraged groups like the Central Public Works Department to lead the way in laying the technical groundwork for these projects. But she also emphasized keeping development sustainable to protect the environment and resources for the long haul.
These officers, she added, won’t just implement policies—they’ll help shape them through solid feedback. Their dedication to serving everyone, especially the weaker and marginalized sections, will set the speed of India’s overall development.
By working with passion and integrity, Murmu said, these officers can help create a more prosperous, resilient, and inclusive India. Their efforts will position the country as a global example of strength and progress.
