BRS Leader KTR Slams Rahul Gandhi Over MLA Defections in Telangana
In a fiery attack, BRS working president KT Rama Rao, popularly known as KTR, called out Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for staying quiet on the recent wave of BRS MLAs switching to Congress in Telangana. This came during a press release on Friday, highlighting what KTR sees as blatant political hypocrisy.
KTR pointed out that Rahul Gandhi often blasts "vote chori" (vote theft) in national politics, but he hasn’t said a peep about what KTR calls "MLA chori" (MLA poaching) right in Telangana. "Rahul Gandhi should feel ashamed of this undemocratic and unconstitutional game," KTR said. He argued it’s a bigger crime than the vote theft Rahul keeps ranting about.
Demanding answers, KTR questioned why Rahul hasn’t responded to the defected MLAs. These leaders won elections on BRS tickets but jumped ship to Congress, only to claim later they never really switched parties. "Congress’s role in this shameless poaching shows their double standards. Rahul Gandhi, you must answer for this," KTR insisted.
He even brought up old photos shared by Congress leaders on social media, showing these MLAs draped in Congress scarves and posing with Rahul Gandhi in Delhi. "You welcomed them with open arms and now deny they joined? Do you still stand by that lie?" KTR asked, firing off a series of tough questions. "If this isn’t MLA chori, what is it? How is it any less serious than vote chori? Aren’t you ashamed of being part of this political hypocrisy?"
KTR warned that such defections in Telangana politics hurt democracy and break public trust. Instead of fixing real issues for people, he accused the Congress government of using dirty tricks to weaken the opposition BRS party.
This isn’t the first time KTR has hit out at the defectors. Back on August 24, he challenged the 10 MLAs who joined Congress to quit their seats and face fresh elections. Speaking at a gathering in Serilingampally, KTR said, "Doodh ka doodh, paani ka paani" – meaning let’s separate truth from lies.
He also took a dig at the Revanth Reddy-led Congress government in Telangana, saying if they claim to do better than BRS, they should prove it. "If Congress delivers on its six guarantees, makes Hyderabad more prosperous, and helps the poor live better, then let’s test it. Let 10 of us resign and contest again. People will decide between Revanth Reddy and KCR," KTR declared.
As Telangana politics heats up with these MLA defections and Rahul Gandhi’s silence, eyes are on how Congress responds to KTR’s bold accusations.
