Speaking from New Delhi, Ambassador Wieser pointed out that both countries’ current needs make teamwork essential. "India is eager for top-notch tech products and innovations, while Austria seeks skilled workers. Matching these up will benefit everyone," she explained. This kind of India-Austria cooperation could open doors for jobs, tech transfers, and mutual growth.
She highlighted how several Austrian companies are now setting up production units right in India. This move isn’t just about selling products—it’s about building them locally. "When Austrian firms succeed in India with help from local partners and talent, it strengthens their home operations back in Austria too," Wieser added. The ambassador also praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership style. "His global outreach is truly impressive. Leading a massive nation like India naturally makes him a key player on the world stage," she said. Last year, PM Modi made a landmark visit to Vienna—the first by an Indian Prime Minister in 41 years. During that trip in July, both sides inked several agreements to deepen India-Austria relations in areas like trade and innovation.
Austria is now eyeing a return visit from PM Modi soon. Meanwhile, ties are buzzing in other fields too. Tourism between India and Austria is on the rise, and collaborations in academics and science are gaining momentum.
