Chennai, December 7 – Tamil‑film director Jithu Madhavan’s long‑awaited next venture, starring superstar Suriya, began filming in the city after a traditional pooja on Sunday.
Produced by Zhagaram Studios, the project is tentatively titled Suriya 47. The launch was attended by the cast, crew, and many industry dignitaries who have supported the team.
Since the first hint that Suriya and Jithu would collaborate, fans and cinema lovers have been buzzing with curiosity and excitement, making the announcement one of the most talked‑about this year.
The pooja brought together key cast members—including Nazriya Nazim, Naslen, Anandraj—and crew such as music director Sushin Shyam, along with other integral team members.
Other luminaries also turned up, including actress‑producer Jyotika, actor Karthi, and producers Rajsekar Pandian of 2D Entertainment, S.R. Prakash, and S.R. Prabhu of Dream Warrior Pictures.
Immediately after the ceremony, filming kicked off, marking the start of the first schedule.
Jithu Madhavan expressed his enthusiasm: “New industry, new beginnings—especially with a star like Suriya, it adds so much energy. We’re aiming to offer something fresh, and I hope the audience appreciates and enjoys the novelty.”
In the film, Suriya leads alongside Nazriya Nazim. Rising actor Naslen, known for several successful roles, plays a pivotal part, with appearances by John Vijay and Anandaraj, among others.
The technical crew is stellar: Vineeth Unni Palode handles cinematography, Sushin Shyam supplies the music, Ashwini Kale is on production design, and Ajmal Sabu edits the footage.
Stunt coordination comes from Chetan D. Souza, adding to the high expectations surrounding the project. mkr
