Gujarat CM Bhupendra Patel’s gentle gesture wins hearts in Navsari

Ahmedabad, Nov 25 (LatestNewsX) — Navsari welcomed Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, who reaffirmed his reputation as a “gentle chief minister.” At a public gathering, an elderly woman had come hoping for a word with the CM, but the event wrapped up before she could get to him. After it ended, Patel went over, greeted her warmly, asked about her health, and shared a brief, touching moment that left a strong impression on everyone present.

During the ceremony, he cut the ribbon for Navsari’s new iconic bus port – the 13th such facility in the state – built by GSRTC under a PPP model and costing more than ₹82 crore. He then inspected the modern amenities, from luxury waiting lounges and a canteen to retail spaces and special accommodations for people with disabilities, all aimed at improving the commuter experience.

Speaking to the crowd, Patel expressed his delight that Navsari had been elevated to Municipal Corporation status, noting that the milestone reflects the success of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “Nagrik Devo Bhava” vision, which places citizens at the core of development. He praised the city’s progress in national campaigns such as Swachh Bharat and Catch the Rain, and said that sound financial management is enabling urban centres to grow rapidly. Patel also stressed that holistic development and increased use of indigenous products will help build an Atmanirbhar Gujarat.

He laid foundation stones for a series of projects worth more than ₹475 crore across departments including GSRTC, the municipal administration, revenue, roads, and the Gujarat State Road Development Corporation. The CM handed a cheque of ₹284 crore from the Gujarat Municipal Finance Board to the Municipal Commissioner to support upcoming development work in the city.

To strengthen civic services, Patel launched newly sanctioned city buses under the Chief Minister Urban Bus Service Scheme and introduced new solid waste‑management vehicles under Swachh Bharat Mission 2.0, marking a significant boost to Navsari’s public transport and sanitation infrastructure.
