Karnataka’s Congress‑led government reiterated its commitment to the Tibetan community during the 55th‑anniversary celebrations of the Gaden Shartse Thoesam Norling School in Mundgod. School Education Minister Madhu Bangarappa, speaking to the gathered crowd, emphasized that supporting the Tibetan residents is both a duty and a privilege for the state. He wished the school’s students a bright future rooted in education, peace, and human values, and sent special greetings to monks, teachers, and guests, expressing reverence for His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama.
Bangarappa highlighted education as a borderless force that can unite people across language, religion, and national lines, insisting that true progress and peace are sustained through learning and shared values. He outlined the Ministry’s inclusive approach, citing initiatives such as mid‑day meals, milk, eggs, ragi malt, as well as free textbooks, notebooks, uniforms, shoes, and socks for pupils—benefits enjoyed by roughly 1.16 crore students in government, aided, and private schools across the state.
The minister also announced that “Moral Science” will return as a compulsory subject in the next academic year, aiming to strengthen students’ civic responsibility, health awareness, environmental stewardship, and ethical conduct. In addition, he awarded certificates of honour to a cadre of officials, educators, and community supporters who have contributed significantly to education and local service.
The ceremony saw attendance from figures such as Principal Geshe Lobsang Tsering, Central Tibetan Administration’s South Zone chief representative Jigme Tsultrim, CTA Minister Gyari Dolma, and other monks, teachers, and community leaders.
