“His campaign lacks planning”: DMK’s Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi takes aim at TVK chief Vijay

Tamil Nadu Minister Slams TVK Chief Vijay Over Poor Campaign Planning in Trichy

In a sharp exchange from Trichy, Tamil Nadu School Education Minister Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi took a dig at TVK chief Vijay on Sunday. Speaking at the DMK’s Trichy South District office, Mahesh pointed out that Vijay’s recent campaign rally lacked proper planning. "His mic even went off mid-speech," he told reporters. "If Vijay wants his messages to reach the people clearly, he needs to prepare better. You can’t just speak without solid planning."

Mahesh was responding to Vijay’s claims that Trichy hasn’t seen real development. With just five months left before the elections, he said it’s typical for new parties like TVK and opposition groups to hype themselves up and criticize the ruling DMK. "Vijay gathered his supporters yesterday and said nothing has been done here. He should’ve highlighted the real growth of Trichy instead," Mahesh added.

To back his point, the minister listed several big-ticket projects transforming Trichy district. These include the Rs 128 crore Anna Heavy Vehicle Cargo Terminal, the Rs 236 crore Periyar Vegetable Market, the Rs 408 crore Panchappur Bus Terminus, and the Rs 400 crore TIDEL Park at Manapparai. Other key initiatives feature a new SIPCOT industrial park at Manapparai, a Government Arts & Science College, a model school with hostel facilities, an Olympic Academy in Thiruverumbur, a Sooliyur Jallikattu arena, the Kamarajar Library in Trichy East, four new study centres with libraries costing Rs 7.75 crore, and even a bird park.

Mahesh also spotlighted popular welfare schemes boosting lives in Tamil Nadu. The Chief Minister’s Breakfast Scheme feeds 69,369 students in 1,200 schools. The Naan Mudhalvan program has trained 68,000 youth for better job opportunities. Under the Kalaignar Women Rights scheme, 4.42 lakh families have benefited. Plus, the government distributed 73,000 land pattas, and schemes like Vidiyal Payanam, Nalamaana Stalin, Ungaludan Stalin, and the Thayumanavar housing project are making a real difference.

"Trichy is the central hub of Tamil Nadu—our Chief Minister calls it the state’s second capital," Mahesh said proudly. "In just four-and-a-half years, we’ve done so much, and we want to do even more. The people here are smart; they won’t fall for empty promises."

Turning to Vijay’s complaint that DMK imposed restrictions only on his rallies, Mahesh clarified that regulations apply to everyone. But he expressed dismay over the damage caused during Vijay’s event. "It hurt to see public infrastructure—built with taxpayers’ money—getting wrecked, like the roof of Syed Muthursha School and vandalized toilets. Enjoy your rallies, entertain the crowd, but don’t destroy what’s for the public good. We don’t view anyone as an enemy."

Mahesh didn’t hold back on Vijay’s harsh words calling DMK "poison." "Many young people showed up at his first rally—that’s great. But instead of saying he’s won over the kids’ hearts, he should focus on real issues, like why the Union Government hasn’t released education funds for Tamil Nadu. His comments came across as narrow-minded."

On other fronts, Mahesh dismissed concerns over the kidney racket issue, noting the local MLA had already explained it. Regarding Vijay’s remarks on Rahul Gandhi’s voting rights, he said, "We don’t see this politically. Speaking up for democracy is at the heart of DMK’s values."

Looking ahead, Mahesh announced exciting party plans. New DMK members across Tamil Nadu will take oaths at every booth level. These pledges will turn into formal resolutions at a conference in Karur on September 17, with Chief Minister M.K. Stalin present. He also teased a massive public meeting in Trichy on September 20, themed "We Will Not Let Tamil Nadu Bow Its Head."

As Tamil Nadu elections heat up, this Trichy showdown highlights the growing rivalry between DMK and emerging players like TVK. Stay tuned for more updates on Tamil Nadu politics and development projects.
