IPL 2026 retentions: Maxwell likely to be released, Mayank could be retained as deadline day nears

New Delhi, Nov 14 – With just under 24 hours left to lock in their squads, the ten IPL franchises are sharpening their lists for the 2026 season. The focus is on fine‑tuning rosters, not on a complete reset.

Punjab Kings shift lineup
Sources say the Punjab Kings may release Glenn Maxwell, Aaron Hardie and Kyle Jamieson. Max’s injury replacement, Mitch Owen, is expected to stay with the side.

Lucknow confirms Mayank Yadav
Lucknow Super Giants have kept fast bowler Mayank Yadav, who scored only six matches in two seasons thanks to injury. After shoulder surgery abroad, he’s back in training at the BCCI centre in Bengaluru and should be fit for the 2026 auction, with his availability uncertainty lifted.

Kolkata Knight Riders eye changes
The three‑time champions might let David Miller, Ravi Bishnoi or Shamar Joseph go to auction. KKR could also move Venkatesh Iyer, with the option to re‑buy him in the mini‑auction in Abu Dhabi on Dec. 15‑16. The team is open to trading Quinton de Kock and Anrich Nortje, while Ajinkya Rahane’s future remains on the table. KKR also discussed a potential swap of KL Rahul with Delhi Capitals.

Rajasthan Royals on the trade table
Rajasthan is negotiating with KKR for a one‑way deal for Nitish Rana, who was with KKR from 2018 to 2024. The final shape of the trade is still unsettled.

Delhi Capitals and MI in shuffle
Delhi could part ways with T. Natarajan, Jake Fraser‑McGurk and Faf du Plessis, along with a few uncapped bench players. Meanwhile, Mumbai Indians are expected to release Will Jacks after trading Shardul Thakur and Sherfane Rutherford earlier this week.

Other major exits
Royal Challengers Bengaluru may sell Liam Livingstone, Blessing Muzarabani, Yash Dayal and Rasikh Dar.
Chennai Super Kings, set for a big swap of Sanju Samson for Ravindra Jadeja and Sam Curran, are likely to let Devon Conway, Rachin Ravindra, Rahul Tripathi, Deepak Hooda, Vijay Shankar and Jamie Overton move on.

These roster moves set the stage for the 2026 IPL auction, where teams will look to build stronger squads for the next season.
