Odisha cabinet approves key amendments to recruitment rules

Bhubaneswar, Nov. 24 – The Odisha Cabinet met on Monday at Lok Seva Bhawan to endorse three proposals from the General Administration & Public Grievance (GA & PG) Department, with Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi presiding.

During the briefing, Additional Chief Secretary Surendra Kumar explained that the Cabinet’s first decision concerns changes to the Combined Higher Secondary Level and Specialist Recruitment Examination Rules. The Junior Forensic Assistant role, which is part of the State Forensic Science Laboratory under the Home Department, has now been added to Schedule I. With this, Schedule I now includes 12 positions that will all be evaluated in a single test.

The second proposal deals with revisions to the Combined Graduate Level Recruitment Examination Rules for Group B and Group C posts across various state services. Four new posts were incorporated into Schedule I, bringing the total number of combined‑examination positions to 34.

The third proposal modifies the Combined Graduate Level Recruitment Examination Rules for Group‑B and Group‑C post‑s under the Special Sports and Services Rules of 2022. Here, four positions were removed from the existing schedule, while some roles were merged or reassigned to other examinations; this includes a post in the Small Savings Department and two uniformed positions, one of which is the Dog Squad role within the Police Department.

Kumar added that, following the Cabinet’s approval of the Odisha Uniformed Services Staff Selection Commission last Friday, this body will now oversee recruitment for those uniformed posts. Altogether, 14 new roles were introduced and four eliminated, resulting in 25 posts within Schedule I, all to be filled through one common exam.

“These adjustments will simplify the hiring process and increase efficiency,” Kumar said.
