In Patna, Bihar, the political atmosphere is heating up as parties sharpen their strategy for the coming assembly elections.
BJP leaders say the alliance talks are on track, even after a cryptic post by Hindustani Awam Morcha (Secular) chief Jitan Ram Manjhi on social media stirred speculation.
BJP says “all is well”
Bihar BJP president Dilip Jaiswal addressed reporters after a third meeting of the party’s Election Committee. He explained that the party is handling the seats it lost in the last election. “We’ve set up a panel of three to four people for each assembly seat,” Jaiswal said. “These panels will send their recommendations to the central leadership, and the final candidates will be decided soon.” He added that the process should finish in two to three days and that the alliance is moving smoothly.
Manjhi’s cryptic X post
Earlier, Manjhi posted a short, somewhat cryptic message on X (formerly Twitter). The post hinted at frustration over the NDA’s seat‑sharing plan. When asked about it, Manjhi said his party still wants a fair share of seats to be recognised in the Bihar Assembly. He stressed that the Hindustani Awam Morcha (Secular) remains on good terms with the coalition.
Deputy chief minister weighs in
Bihar deputy chief minister Vijay Kumar Sinha said a detailed discussion took place at the meeting. He confirmed that every member attended and that plans were set in motion.
Confidence from higher‑up leaders
Union minister Dharmendra Pradhan and Uttar Pradesh deputy chief minister Keshav Prasad Maurya chaired the committee meeting in Patna. Maurya was upbeat: “NDA will form the government in Bihar again.” He dismissed any idea that Manjhi or Lok Janshakti Party president Chirag Paswan were unhappy with the seat‑sharing terms, insisting that all parties were content.
Election schedule and voter details
The Election Commission has released the timetable for the Bihar Assembly polls. All 243 seats will be contested in two phases: November 6 and November 11, with counting set for November 14. The final electoral roll lists 7.42 crore voters, down from 7.89 crore earlier this year after 65 lakh names were removed. The last draft roll, issued on August 1, 2025, recorded 7.24 crore voters.
With the campaign kicking off soon, supporters and observers alike will monitor the alliance’s final seat‑sharing agreements. The upcoming elections are a critical test for the NDA coalition’s influence in Bihar.
