Kerala BJP chief Rajeev Chandrasekhar made it clear on Wednesday that India stands strong against any third-party mediation in its issues with Pakistan. He praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for always putting India’s interests first, no matter what.
Speaking to in Thiruvananthapuram, Chandrasekhar dismissed opposition leaders’ criticism of the government over former US President Donald Trump’s past claims about mediating the India-Pakistan conflict during Operation Sindoor. “That’s our government’s firm position,” he said, responding to recent remarks by Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, who admitted India rejected outside help on bilateral matters.
Chandrasekhar highlighted PM Modi’s and External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar’s statements in Parliament. “If there’s anyone we can trust 100% to protect India’s interests today and forever, it’s PM Narendra Modi. His DNA is wired to never compromise on our nation’s security. So, don’t pay attention to what others say—whether it’s abroad or even from our own opposition leaders,” he added confidently.
The comments come after Ishaq Dar’s interview with Al Jazeera on Tuesday. Dar revealed that India firmly turned down third-party mediation during Operation Sindoor, going against Trump’s repeated boasts. Trump had claimed the US helped broker a ceasefire on May 10 between the two nuclear powers.
Dar shared details of his talks with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio. He said he raised the mediation issue with Rubio, who confirmed India’s stance: no outside involvement. During a July 25 meeting in Washington, Dar asked about planned dialogues, but Rubio replied that India sees it as a strictly bilateral issue between India and Pakistan.
These revelations contradict Trump’s assertions that the US played a key role in stopping the fighting. Operation Sindoor was India’s precise military strikes on nine terrorist sites in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK). It was a direct response to the deadly April 22 Pahalgam terror attack that killed 26 people.
India’s armed forces not only hit back but also repelled Pakistani aggression and targeted their airbases. The hostilities ended when Pakistan’s DGMO directly called his Indian counterpart to agree on a ceasefire. This shows India’s resolve in handling such threats on its own terms.
