Four killed in sleeper bus-truck collision in Rajasthan’s Sikar

Jaipur, Dec 10 (LatestNewsX) – A fatal head‑on crash on the Jaipur‑Bikaner National Highway near Fatehpur saw a sleeper bus collide with a truck that was speeding. Four people died and 28 others sustained injuries. The wreck happened late Tuesday night, and rescuers said the task was tough because many passengers were wedged beneath seats and twisted metal. While three died at the scene, the bus conductor later succumbed to his injuries in Jaipur on Wednesday morning.

The victims were a bus passenger named Mayank, the driver Kamlesh, one other person whose identity hasn’t been released, and Mitesh, the conductor who had been moved from SK Hospital in Sikar to Jaipur in critical condition. All the passengers were from Valsad, Gujarat, and had just returned from a trip to Vaishno Devi, heading toward Khatu Shyamji.

About 50 people were on board. According to witnesses, the sleeper bus was heading from Bikaner toward Jaipur while the truck was coming from Jhunjhunu toward Bikaner. When the vehicles struck, the impact shattered the bus, and passengers in the cabin and near the front suffered the worst injuries, with glass shards and metal fragments tearing through their bodies. Police, local residents, and first responders sprang into action, hauling trapped passengers out and taking them to hospitals. The damage was severe enough that a crane was needed to lift the wreckage, allowing traffic to resume.

“It was a frantic night,” said ambulance driver Bhim Singh, one of the first responders. “I got the call on Tuesday night, and we could hear screams everywhere. We immediately called the 108 ambulance service and worked with locals to pull out trapped passengers and rush them to Fatehpur government hospital.”

Sikar Additional Superintendent of Police, Tejpal Singh, confirmed the death toll and said 15 passengers were seriously injured, with 2–3 still in critical condition. He added that rescue and medical teams acted quickly to move the wounded to hospitals for advanced care.
