A new report from HSBC Global Investment Research says the market looks healthy, and the second quarter of fiscal year 2026 (Q2 FY26) could spark fresh investor interest and shift perceptions.
Data through August shows homebuying volume rose year-over-year, even if it started from a low point due to last year’s elections. New project launches stayed slow—developers skipped inauspicious dates—but demand picked up anyway. HSBC’s checks reveal that pre-sales for their covered developers jumped 64 percent compared to last year.
These launches drew big crowds, letting developers sell off chunks of projects right away. Ongoing sales got a boost from steady demand, and collections should keep things solid moving forward.
“We stay positive on leading residential developers,” the report says. Prices in the premium segment—the sweet spot for these listed players—remain strong, fueled by buyers upgrading their homes. This helps keep profit margins healthy.
Homebuyers feel confident thanks to low unsold inventory, solid balance sheets, and hefty cash reserves held by the Real Estate Regulatory Authority (RERA). Big developers keep grabbing more market share by delivering high-demand luxury and large-scale projects.
