Gunman who shot Jets CB Kris Boyd in NYC charged with attempted murder: sources
Frederick Green, a 20‑year‑old from the Bronx, was charged on Tuesday with attempted murder, assault, and criminal possession of a weapon after police say he fired a gun at New York Jets cornerback Kris Boyd outside the Asian‑fusion spot Sei Less on West 38th Street.
Police picked Green up in Buffalo on Monday when they tracked a gray Mercedes that belonged to his girlfriend. Sources say the vehicle was caught on surveillance and the tip that led to his arrest came from a CrimeStoppers lead.
The attack happened that morning of Nov. 16, when Boyd was out with teammates Jamien Sherwood, wide‑receiver Irvin Charles and a friend from Texas. According to NYPD Chief of Detectives Joseph Kenny, a group of men began to “chirp” at the group about their clothing. The guys entered the restaurant, but left after only a handful of minutes because the “vibe” was off. As they walked back, the same men verbally insulted them again, “questioning their clothing and asking if they think they’re better than us.” Then a gunman opened fire, striking Boyd in the stomach and leaving a bullet lodged in his lung.
Boyd is currently in the hospital. Police said Green has four prior arrests, most of which are sealed, including a 2024 juvenile record for reckless endangerment and a 2018 robbery charge. Earlier this year, he was also caught for unlawful possession of ID and possession of a controlled substance.
