Results of fresh WBSSC recruitment examination might be published at month-end

Kolkata, Oct 6 – The West Bengal School Service Commission (WBSSC) is set to announce the results of newly held recruitment exams for secondary and higher‑secondary teachers before month‑end. The goal is to start interviews in November and finish the whole process by December 31, in line with a Supreme Court deadline.

The written tests ran in two rounds on Sept 14 and Sept 7. “We expect results by the end of the month so that we can begin interviews next month,” said an insider from the commission.

This round comes after the Supreme Court cancelled 25,753 school‑jobs created in 2016. The High Court had said the entire panel had to be scrapped because West Bengal and the WBSSC failed to separate “untainted” candidates from those who had allegedly bought positions. Critics said the government ignored the separation, letting candidates reach the bench after paying bribes.

Just before the new exams, the commission released a list of candidates it considered tainted, sparking doubts about the list’s authenticity. The fresh exams aim to clear the record and fill the vacant teaching posts fairly.
