Roblox hit with sexploitation lawsuit after online user allegedly attempted to kidnap 5-year-old
A grieving mother has filed a lawsuit against Roblox, claiming the platform turns into a hub for child predators after her five‑year‑old son was groomed and almost abducted by a man he met online. The suit was filed this week in the Northern District of California.
According to the complaint, the young boy was a frequent Roblox player when, in 2024, a male predator pretended to be a peer and used “well‑documented grooming tactics” to gain his trust. He coaxed the child into revealing his school and other personal details. Another parent later called the mother’s sister to warn that a suspicious man had been watching their children at school, as the court documents say. The mother reportedly learned about the incident only when her son brought it home the next day.
The alleged predator approached the boy and his older brother, claiming he was a Roblox friend. When the brother pointed out that the man was not a kid, the attacker tried to kidnap the children, sparking a confrontation that forced the siblings to refuse. The predator fled as police arrived, and he was arrested after the mother filed a report.
Roblox boasts more than 380 million monthly users and offers a vast virtual playground where people can create avatars and engage in games. Yet the lawsuit says it also permits adults who masquerade as minors to conduct sexually explicit acts and groom underage players. Silently, the platform hosts over 600 “Diddy” games—titles such as “Run from Diddy Simulator” and “Diddy Party” that echo the scandal‑ridden career of music mogul Sean Combs—, according to an investigation by the law firm Kherkher Garcia, which represents the mother and son.
An internal review found more than 900 Roblox accounts that play off the name of convicted sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein, and games like “Escape to Epstein Island,” which mimic locations tied to his abuse, claim the suit.
The family is seeking unspecified damages for the intense emotional and physical harm the grooming inflicted on the child. “This case is a terrifying reminder of the world we live in, where capitalist greed far outweighs humanity,” partner Sadi R. Antonmattei‑Goitia of Kherkher Garcia told The Post. “By allowing these kinds of apps to run with almost no oversight, age checks, or monitoring, we open safe havens for depraved adults with the means to prey on children,” she added.
Roblox has not yet responded to a request for comment. The platform has previously faced legal challenges over allegations of sexual exploitation of minors. In October, Kentucky sued Roblox for letting predators thrive on the site and exposing children to shocking content, including a fake Charlie Kirk assassination simulation. An August case from North Carolina alleged Roblox enabled a predator to sexually exploit a young daughter.
