In New Delhi on 10 December, India and the European Union reaffirmed how vital it is to finish a trade deal that is fair, ambitious and reflects their common values, economic priorities and a rules‑based trading system. At minister‑level talks, both governments expressed a firm commitment to tackle outstanding issues through constructive dialogue and to reach a deal that benefits everyone. Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal met with EU Trade Commissioner M Sefcovic to give the negotiating teams strategic direction as they aim to close the agreement soon. Their meeting followed a week of technical talks in Delhi (3–9 December) that covered key FTA chapters such as market access, rules of origin, services, technical barriers, trade and sustainability. The two sides highlighted the steady progress on several tracks and agreed to keep the momentum going with continued exchanges. The visit marked a milestone in the India‑EU trade talks, reinforcing India’s image as a reliable partner for the EU in building resilient, forward‑looking economic ties. Anchored in shared goals of prosperity, sustainability and innovation, both parties left the talks confident and determined to push for an early, comprehensive, mutually beneficial agreement. The Ministry noted that the EU commissioner’s trip followed earlier high‑level discussions between Commerce Secretary, Director‑General for Trade and the European Commission on 7 December, underlining a shared determination to speed up the negotiations for a timely, win‑win outcome.
