In Taipei on October 22, the 2024 Wistron Ladies Open ran into a weather problem that has pushed the tournament back one day. Heavy rain turned the course at Sunrise Golf & Country Club into a flood zone, so organisers shortened the event to 54 holes instead of the usual 72. The club’s staff and greenskeepers have been working hard to restore the greens, but the course was unplayable on Wednesday, forcing a cancelled practice walk.
The Indian squad, led by 21‑year‑old Pranavi Urs, will now start on Friday morning. The team is joined by Hitaashee Bakshi, who finished third at last week’s Women’s Indian Open, rookie Avani Prashanth, and Tvesa Malik. Diksha Dagar chose not to play. Urs had a solid outing at the Lacoste Ladies Open in France, shooting a 70 on day one and keeping her five‑hole front‑nine in check before earning a birdie on the back‑nine.
The Sunrise Golf & Country Club is a par‑72 layout, 6,456 yards for women. This year marks the sixth edition of the Wistron Ladies Open and only the second time it is co‑sanctioned by the Ladies European Tour (LET) and the Taiwan Ladies Professional Golf Association (TLPGA). The field includes a dozen past LET champions, including defending title holder Chiara Tamburlini of Switzerland.
The tournament’s committee says it remains hopeful that conditions will improve enough for a Thursday walk‑through, but play will currently begin on Friday. The delay means the Indian players have to wait for the extra day to chase a million‑dollar prize at the Chinese Taipei event.
