Person of interest in shooting of Jets CB Kris Boyd caught in Buffalo: sources

A 20‑year‑old man, linked to the fatal shooting of Jets cornerback Kris Boyd outside a Midtown eatery, was captured by police in Buffalo on Monday morning, according to law‑enforcement reports. The suspect is heading back to New York to face charges related to the pre‑dawn attack that left Boyd with a stomach wound on November 16, near the Asian fusion restaurant Sei Less on West 38th Street close to Seventh Avenue.

Boyd had been out with teammates Gang Green linebacker Jamien Sherwood and wide receiver Irvin Charles when a rough crowd began mocking their stylish attire. As the teammates tried to leave the scene—reportedly feeling the “vibe” of the hotspot was off—they were drawn into a street brawl, and shots rang out. One bullet struck Boyd in the abdomen, and he was transported to Bellevue Hospital, where he was initially listed as critical but stable.

The attacking group was unarmed, and police said no other members of Boyd’s party carried weapons.

A frantic video released by Crime_In_NYC on X captures the chaos: people flinging punches while gunfire forces everyone to seek cover.

The suspect has a record of four prior arrests, though most of them are sealed. Recent convictions earlier this year involved unlawful possession of personal identification and possession of a controlled substance. He was also arrested as a juvenile offender in 2024 for reckless endangerment and had a sealed 2018 juvenile arrest for robbery.
