Akasa Air is making it easier than ever for pet lovers to fly with their furry friends. The Indian airline just boosted its popular “Pets on Akasa” service, letting passengers bring two pets into the cabin instead of just one. This change comes from passenger feedback and aims to give more options for pet parents on the go.
Since launching in November 2022, the program has safely flown over 8,500 pets across India. It builds on updates from May 2024, like raising the cabin weight limit to 10 kg per pet and extending pet travel certificates to 15 days. These tweaks make booking pet-friendly flights smoother and less stressful.
You can now use Pets on Akasa in 24 domestic cities, from bustling hubs like Mumbai, Delhi, and Bengaluru to spots like Chennai, Kolkata, Hyderabad, and Lucknow. The airline’s focus on customer needs keeps it adapting to what travelers want, especially those with pets.
Flying with your pet? Akasa Air throws in free perks to make the trip special. That includes a pre-booked window seat for better views, priority check-in and baggage handling, and “Board First” to settle in quickly. The team has trained hard—customer service, airport staff, and flight crew all get specialized prep—to ensure top-notch care, safety, and comfort from start to finish.
Akasa Air teams up with the Gurgaon-based Umeed for Animals Foundation, a nonprofit that rescues and rehabs animals. Together, they fine-tune policies to boost pet safety and happiness during flights.
One more win: The booking cutoff is now just 24 hours before takeoff, down from 48. Perfect for those last-minute pet travel plans.
Akasa Air has served more than 21 million passengers with its modern fleet of 30 Boeing 737 MAX planes, and 226 more on order. These aircraft cut fuel use and emissions while offering quieter, comfier cabins—great for everyone, including pets.
