India, Sri Lanka to host historic Women’s T20 World Cup for Blind 2025

Exciting Update: Sri Lanka Joins India as Co-Host for First Women’s T20 World Cup for the Blind

Big news for cricket fans and supporters of inclusive sports! The Cricket Association for the Blind in India (CABI) has officially announced that Sri Lanka will co-host the inaugural Women’s T20 World Cup for the Blind alongside India. This groundbreaking tournament kicks off on November 11 and runs until November 25, bringing together top women’s blind cricket teams from around the world.

The event was originally set for New Delhi, Bengaluru, and Kathmandu in Nepal. But after a virtual meeting on September 15, the World Blind Cricket Council (WBCC) Executive Committee made a smart switch. They picked Colombo in Sri Lanka as the neutral venue for matches involving Pakistan and as an extra host city. This change comes due to the current challenges in Nepal. CABI officials are already gearing up to team up with their Sri Lankan counterparts to handle all the arrangements smoothly.

Get ready for an action-packed schedule: 21 thrilling league matches, two semi-finals, and a grand finale. Fans can catch the games live in New Delhi, Bengaluru, and Colombo. It’s going to be a spectacle of skill and determination!

CABI Chairman Mahantesh G. Kivadasannavar couldn’t hide his excitement. "This World Cup isn’t just about cricket—it’s a true celebration of courage, talent, and inclusion," he said. "Hosting it in India fills us with pride. I’m sure our girls will shine bright, inspire millions, and make the whole nation cheer for them."

The tournament lineup includes powerhouse teams from Australia, England, India, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and the USA. As the organizing body under the Samarthanam Trust for the Disabled, CABI is leading the charge to give women with visual impairments a global stage. This reflects India’s strong push for equal opportunities in sports for athletes with disabilities.

Adding to the hype, India’s women’s visually impaired cricket team already made waves by grabbing gold at the 2023 IBSA World Games. Cricket for the blind debuted there, and India clinched the title by beating Australia in the finals—a massive win for women’s blind cricket history.

As the world tunes in, the Indian Women’s Blind Cricket Team is all set to step up, play with heart, and create more unforgettable moments right here on home turf. Stay tuned for more updates on this historic Women’s T20 World Cup for the Blind!
