Delhi’s Ramleela committees can now use loudspeakers until midnight for the next 12 days, starting today. Environment Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa announced this special two-hour extension on Monday, running from September 22 to October 3. The move targets key festivals like Ramlila, Durga Puja, Dussehra, and other religious events.
Sirsa explained that the permission comes with strict conditions to follow noise pollution rules. Organizers must keep nighttime noise levels at or below 45 dB(A) to protect residents’ health and peace. The Delhi government requested this time-bound relaxation, and Lieutenant Governor approved it for the public good, responding to years of calls from festival committees.
“This honors our cultural traditions during the festive season without disturbing daily life,” Sirsa said. He credited Chief Minister Rekha Gupta’s leadership for making it happen. As head of the Delhi Government’s Durga Puja Committee, Sirsa has led meetings with district magistrates, local leaders, and officials from MCD, PWD, Forest, and Horticulture departments. Their goal? Smooth setups at festival venues for hassle-free celebrations.
Earlier today, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta joined the vibrant Kalash Yatra at the ancient Radha Krishna Temple in Shalimar Bagh. She then visited the Santoshi Mata Temple on Jail Road, where she prayed to the Goddess for Delhi’s prosperity, health, safety, and unity.
Gupta shared that the blessings of the Mother Goddess will guide Delhi toward strength, peace, and growth. “This festival brings faith, joy, and the power of devotion,” she said. For the past nine years, she’s made this Kalash Yatra a yearly tradition, calling it a source of spiritual calm and fresh energy.
The CM highlighted how Navratri kicks off with Kalash Sthapana, and the procession embodies community devotion. “Every step in the Yatra echoes faith, togetherness, and determination,” Gupta added. With Durga Puja and Navratri festivities underway, Delhi buzzes with excitement as families gear up for these beloved Hindu festivals.
