How did Ravi Patel’s baby die? ‘Special Forces’ star opens up about “worst time” in his life in new episode

Actor Ravi Patel has opened up about a heart‑breaking loss that still affects him today. Two years ago, he and his family lost his daughter Saachi just five days after she was born.
Saachi’s death resulted from meconium aspiration syndrome, a serious breathing complication that can occur when a newborn inhales meconium, the baby’s first stool. The tragedy left Ravi with deep emotional scars, which he shared in a recent episode of the reality‑sports series Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test.
In the episode, Ravi stood up to the directing staff, known as DS, after being called out for talking at the wrong time. When he tried to lighten the mood with jokes, DS Jason “Foxy” Fox shot back with a blunt “I don’t … dimwit.”
Ravi explained that people on the show often dislike humor, especially sarcasm, so he may be at a disadvantage. Even though laughter has always been his defense, he admitted that the staff might not warm up to him.
During a private mirror‑room conversation—where contestants often reveal their true feelings—Ravi finally spoke about Saachi. “We lost a daughter five days after she was born. That was the worst time in my life,” he told the camera. He added that the estranged experience was so painful that his older daughter looked at him as if she had lost someone too.
Ravi detailed Saachi’s condition. According to the Cleveland Clinic, meconium aspiration can block or irritate a newborn’s airways, leading to breathing problems that sometimes prove fatal. Saachi’s situation was especially severe, requiring urgent medical interventions that unfortunately never succeeded.
If you’re watching Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test for the first time, the show airs Thursday nights at 9 p.m. ET/PT on FOX. It’s also available in the U.S. on a variety of streaming platforms.
You can catch new episodes live with a subscription to Fubo, YouTube TV, Hulu + Live TV or Sling TV. After the live broadcast, fresh episodes stream Friday mornings on Hulu and through the FOX One app, which currently offers a one‑week free trial.
Ravi Patel’s heartfelt story reminds us how reality shows can uncover real human drama behind the competition. The loss of Saachi is a grief that matters beyond the screen and resonates with many families who have faced similar tragedies.
