‘Resident Evil’ actor allegedly shot female driver in wild road rage incident that forced lockdown of NJ university
A shocking road rage incident in New Jersey turned a regular drive into a nightmare when a well-known video game actor allegedly pulled out a gun and shot at another driver. Ernest Wesley Heinz, 48, now faces attempted homicide charges after the scary showdown that even locked down a nearby university campus.
It all started last Thursday afternoon in Galloway Township. Police say Heinz cut off a woman trying to merge at a red light, sparking his explosive anger. He quickly jumped out of his white Honda SUV and started yelling curses at the female driver behind him. Things escalated fast—he even threatened to kill her right there in her car.
As they reached the light, Heinz reportedly stuck his arm out the window and fired a single shot, hitting the woman in the face. “The male yelled at her and fired,” Galloway Township Police Captain Mark D’Esposito told reporters. The terrified victim called 911 right away, and Heinz sped off—straight onto the Stockton University campus.
Cops rushed to the scene, but Heinz had vanished. Luckily, the woman’s injury was non-life-threatening—just a graze on her nose. She stayed alert enough to describe his vehicle and direction, which helped police track him down later that day.
The drama put Stockton University on full lockdown for three tense hours as officers searched the grounds for the armed suspect. Students and staff hunkered down while authorities combed the area.
Finally, police arrested Heinz at a nearby home. They charged him with attempted homicide, and he’s now locked up at the Atlantic County Justice Facility. He has a court hearing coming up this week to decide if he’ll stay behind bars.
In a quirky twist, cops released Heinz’s professional headshot online instead of the usual mugshot—probably because of his acting background. Heinz is best known to fans as a face model in two popular Resident Evil video games. He also had a small, uncredited role in The Sopranos and appeared in a short film called The Soul of Blue Eye back in 2014. No major projects since then, but this road rage case has definitely put him back in the spotlight—for all the wrong reasons.
Authorities are reminding drivers to stay calm on the road and report any aggressive behavior. If you’ve got details on similar incidents, reach out to local police. Stay safe out there!
