New Delhi, Oct 26 – Tejashwi Yadav, the popular RJD leader and chief face of the Mahagathbandhan (Grand Alliance), used a massive rally in Araria to vow huge changes if he becomes Bihar’s chief minister.
He said his top priority would be to tackle unemployment, upgrade the state’s weak education system and lift Bihar to the top spot among Indian states.
In a striking statement, Yadav promised to throw the Waqf Act out of the political agenda. “When I become CM, the Waqf Board law will be discarded,” he told the crowd. “Every Bihari will become worry‑free. Bihar needs better colleges, less poverty, and fewer people migrating out.”
The announcement follows a viral clip of RJD MLC Qari Soheb, who echoed Yadav’s promise to abandon the Waqf bill if the RJD wins. The clip has sparked fresh controversy, drawing fire from the ruling NDA and the BJP.
BJP’s IT unit chief, Amit Malviya, posted online that those who say they “save the Constitution” are actually keen on changing it. He warned that such voices threaten the land and rights of Dalits, Other Backward Classes and tribals. “Will they let people like Qari Soheb encroach on the land and reservation rights of poor Hindus?” Malviya asked.
Qari Soheb’s video also called for defeating NDA allies and pledged a government built on unity, brotherhood, and humanity. The BJP has called the RJD’s stance hypocritical and dangerous to constitutional values.
The debate over the Waqf Act, Bihar’s political future and constitutional safeguards is now at the forefront of the state’s politics, as both the opposition and the government vie for public support. The outcome will shape Bihar’s path to development and its role in India’s national story.
