Kolkata, Nov 24 (LatestNewsX) – The Kolkata Police have detained a Mumbai resident accused of luring a female coworker into a sexual affair by promising marriage. He is identified as Deep Chakraborty. The arrest followed a complaint lodged by the woman at Kasba police station in Kolkata. According to the authorities, the woman pressured him to honor a marriage promise, which led Deep to quit his job in Kolkata, relocate to Mumbai, change his mobile number, secure new employment, and even arrange a potential overseas escape. Investigators, however, befriended him through social media, discovering his new workplace. The complainant was a colleague in the same Kolkata office, and they met daily, gradually forming a friendship that evolved into intimacy. As the relationship deepened, Deep pursued a sexual liaison with her under the pretext of marriage. When she pushed him to commit, he attempted to end the affair, fled overnight, and found work in Mumbai. Unable to contact him, she reported him to Kasba police station, which triggered an investigation. Officers struggled to locate Deep but eventually contacted him using a pseudonym, to which he responded. They learned of his occupation in Mumbai, confirmed this with the company, and discovered his visa had already been processed for overseas travel. A team from Kasba police station went to Mumbai, found that Deep was preparing to flee abroad, and apprehended him before he could leave. The senior Kolkata Police officer noted that the accused is now being interrogated. “Before he could go abroad, our officers arrested him and brought him to Kolkata from Mumbai. The accused is being interrogated,” said a senior Kolkata Police officer.
