BJP MP Anurag Thakur Slams Congress and RJD Over Controversial AI Video Targeting PM Modi and His Late Mother
In a fiery speech in Pune, BJP MP Anurag Thakur took a strong stand against Congress and RJD for sharing an AI-generated video that allegedly disrespects Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his late mother, Heeraben Modi. The video, posted by Bihar Congress, shows PM Modi dreaming of his mother scolding him over his political decisions, sparking a major political controversy in Bihar and beyond.
Speaking to reporters during the Pune on Pedal Cycle Rally and Pune Walkathon 2025—events organized by BJP leader Medha Kulkarni to celebrate PM Modi’s 75th birthday—Thakur didn’t hold back. "A mother’s place is sacred in everyone’s life," he said. "But Congress and RJD have sunk to a new low by abusing the Prime Minister’s late mother and sharing such a disgusting video. This reveals their true mindset. Do they really need to stoop this low in politics and insult someone’s mother?"
Thakur also criticized Congress for not apologizing after similar incidents. He pointed to an earlier event at the Congress-led Voter Adhikar Yatra in Bihar’s Darbhanga, where an unknown speaker on stage hurled abuses at PM Modi and his mother. "Congress didn’t say sorry; instead, they repeated the mistake," Thakur added. "The people of Bihar will never forgive them and will teach them a lesson in the upcoming elections."
The AI video has gone viral, igniting a heated political row. BJP leaders, including MP Dinesh Sharma, have accused Congress of losing their cool and using dirty tactics to damage PM Modi’s image. Sharma said, "Congress has lost its mental balance. To tarnish PM Modi’s reputation, they’re throwing insults at him. It’s become Rahul Gandhi’s job to disrespect constitutional bodies—he even skipped the Vice President’s oath ceremony today, despite being the Leader of Opposition."
On the other side, Congress leader Pawan Khera defended the video and hit back at BJP. Talking to , Khera questioned the claims of disrespect. "Where’s the insult to his late mother? Show me one word or gesture that disrespects her," he said. "Parents have a duty to guide their children, and she’s just educating her son. If he sees it as disrespectful, that’s his problem, not ours. Why does BJP blow everything out of proportion to create fake sympathy?"
Khera added, "There’s no fake sympathy for this anymore. PM Modi can’t play ‘touch me not’ in politics—he has to handle opposition humor, though this isn’t humor; it’s just advice."
This latest clash highlights the growing tensions between BJP and Congress ahead of key elections, with both sides accusing each other of crossing lines in political attacks. As the debate rages on social media and in Bihar’s political circles, voters are watching closely.
