Bengaluru just got a massive boost as India’s tech powerhouse! On Friday, Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar celebrated the launch of Rolls-Royce’s largest Global Capability Centre (GCC) in the city, calling it a game-changer for the state’s global image.
In an excited social media post, Shivakumar shared: “Namma Bengaluru – where global giants find their wings! Bengaluru welcomes the largest Rolls-Royce GCC, showcasing our state’s growing global stature. This strengthens Karnataka’s standing as India’s leading aerospace and defence hub and creates new opportunities for innovation.” He pointed out how Bengaluru’s skilled talent and buzzing ecosystem keep drawing top tech names from around the world.
The big reveal happened earlier on Wednesday, when Karnataka Industries Minister MB Patil, along with British High Commissioner to India Lindy Cameron and Rolls-Royce CFO Helen McCabe, cut the ribbon for the company’s shiny new expanded Global Capability and Innovation Centre in Bengaluru. This state-of-the-art facility will host parts of Rolls-Royce’s global digital teams, enterprise services, and engineering squads focused on Civil Aerospace and Defence.
At the event, Patil praised Rolls-Royce as one of India’s oldest partners in building the aerospace scene. “From licensed engine production with HAL to supporting our armed forces and now driving digital innovation and engineering excellence from Bengaluru, it’s a story of trust, collaboration, and shared progress,” he said. He congratulated the team and assured that the Karnataka government stands ready with supportive policies, top-notch infrastructure, and a business-friendly vibe to back such projects.
Helen McCabe, Rolls-Royce’s CFO, couldn’t hide her enthusiasm either. “India plays a huge role in Rolls-Royce’s global journey of innovation and progress. This expanded centre is our biggest capability hub yet, and it shows our deep commitment to the country,” she noted. She added that the company aims to build local skills, nurture talent, and forge stronger partnerships. As they grow, the focus stays on creating a future-ready setup to team up with partners and deliver real value for customers in India and beyond.
This Rolls-Royce expansion highlights Bengaluru’s rise as a key player in aerospace innovation, defence tech, and global business hubs, promising fresh jobs and cutting-edge opportunities for the region.
