India will be the host for a five‑match women’s T20I series against Sri Lanka from 21 to 30 December, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced on Friday. The opening two games will take place at the ACA‑VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam, with the remaining three fixtures scheduled for the Greenfield International Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram. BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia confirmed that the Visakhapatnam matches will be on 21 and 23 December, while the Thiruvananthapuram games will run on the 26th, 28th and 30th of the month.
The news follows Bangladesh’s own visit to India in December, which was postponed a few weeks ago due to political tensions—an incident that also delayed the men’s tour of Bangladesh to September 2026. Visakhapatnam hosted India’s league matches against South Africa and Australia during the 2025 Women’s ODI World Cup and served as the team’s ten‑day pre‑tournament camp. Thiruvananthapuram, on the other hand, will be making its debut as a home venue for women’s internationals, though it has previously hosted men’s T20Is, ODIs, and youth ODIs and Tests.
This series will be India’s first international engagement after clinching its maiden Women’s ODI World Cup title in Navi Mumbai earlier this month, and will also help the team gear up for the 2026 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup that will be played in England from 12 June to 5 July. The T20I series is followed by the fourth edition of the Women’s Premier League, scheduled for 9 January to 5 February 2026 in Navi Mumbai and Vadodara, before the Indian side heads to Australia for a multi‑format tour from 15 February to 6 March. ”
