In a recent development from Bulandshahr, Uttar Pradesh, police have taken swift action against content creator Arpit Sharma. They filed an FIR after he allegedly posted inflammatory statements on social media platform X that could threaten India’s unity, integrity, and sovereignty. Sharma, who lives in England, shared a now-deleted video referencing the ongoing protests in Nepal, warning that similar unrest might spread to India.
Bulandshahr Superintendent of Police (City) Shanker Prasad confirmed the details to . He explained that Sharma’s post, made under the Bulandshahr police station limits, drew parallels to Nepal’s protests and posed a clear risk to national harmony. The FIR falls under Section 152 of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS), which deals with acts endangering India’s sovereignty and unity.
The complaint came from Aslam Malik, who accused Sharma of deliberately stirring public anger with his video and comments. As a political commentator on social media, Sharma’s words have sparked outrage, with Malik highlighting how they endanger the nation’s stability.
Meanwhile, tensions in Nepal continue to simmer. A crucial high-level political meeting at the President’s House in Kathmandu, originally set for 9 am on Friday, got postponed to 2 pm. Sources say it will include top figures like Nepal Army Chief Ashok Raj Sigdel, Chief Justice Prakash Man Singh Raut, and leaders from the CPN (Maoist Centre). President Ram Chandra Paudel is also expected to join.
This meeting happens against the backdrop of intense Gen Z-led protests shaking Nepal. The unrest follows Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli’s resignation amid widespread demonstrations. Key topics on the agenda include forming an interim government and possibly appointing former Chief Justice Sushila Karki as interim Prime Minister.
On Thursday, Gen Z protest leaders held a press conference where they endorsed Karki for the role, praising her integrity and independence. The protests have turned tragic, with the death toll in Kathmandu Valley rising to 34, according to The Himalayan Times citing Nepal’s Ministry of Health and Population. Over 1,368 people have suffered injuries nationwide.
