Eight nations back Trump’s Gaza peace plan

Eight Arab and Muslim countries voiced strong support for US President Donald Trump’s new proposals to end the Gaza conflict and stop any forced displacement of Palestinians. On Tuesday, foreign ministers from Qatar, Jordan, the United Arab Emirates, Indonesia, Pakistan, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, and Egypt released a joint statement praising Trump’s leadership and his genuine push for peace in the Middle East.

The ministers highlighted Trump’s comprehensive plan to wrap up the fighting, rebuild Gaza, and promote lasting stability in the region. They also commended his firm stance against any Israeli annexation of the West Bank. “We’re ready to work closely with the US and other partners to seal and carry out this deal,” the statement said. The group stressed their key partnership with Washington to build regional peace and security.

In their vision for a full agreement, the ministers called for unrestricted humanitarian aid flowing into Gaza right away. They want to prevent Palestinian displacement, secure the release of all hostages, provide safety guarantees for everyone involved, and ensure a complete Israeli withdrawal from Gaza. The plan also focuses on reconstructing the Gaza Strip and linking it with the West Bank to form a unified Palestinian state.

The ministers made it clear: Any real solution must follow a two-state framework, with Gaza fully integrated into a Palestinian state based on international law. They see this as the only way to achieve long-term peace and security in the Middle East.

This comes after the White House unveiled Trump’s peace plan on Monday, following a meeting between the president and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. The proposal aims to turn Gaza into a deradicalized, terror-free area that won’t threaten neighbors, while redeveloping it to help residents who’ve endured so much hardship.

Under the plan, if both sides agree, the war ends immediately. Israeli forces would pull back to a set line to allow hostage releases, halting all military actions like airstrikes and shelling. Battle lines would stay frozen until a full, step-by-step withdrawal happens.

If Israel accepts publicly, all hostages—alive or deceased—would return within 72 hours. In exchange, Israel would free 250 prisoners serving life sentences, plus 1,700 Gazans detained after October 7, 2023, including all women and children held in that period. For every set of Israeli hostage remains released, Israel would return the remains of 15 deceased Gazans.

The plan offers amnesty to Hamas members who pledge peaceful coexistence and give up their weapons. Those wanting to leave Gaza could get safe passage to other countries. Once the deal kicks in, full humanitarian aid would pour into Gaza, matching at least the levels from the January 19, 2025, agreement. That includes fixing water, electricity, and sewage systems; rehabilitating hospitals and bakeries; and bringing in gear to clear rubble and reopen roads.
