Arrest made in fatal stabbing of woman who heroically protected beau during wild NYC nightclub brawl
A 28‑year‑old Bronx man was booked on murder, manslaughter and weapons charges after he stabbed a 35‑year‑old woman to death outside the Mama Dora nightclub on East Kingsbridge Road.
The violent clash began just after 4 a.m. Sunday when two groups of patrons left the club and started fighting on the sidewalk. According to witnesses, the victim, Pamela Almonte Cabrera, stepped in to protect her husband when he was pushed to the ground. While she tried to shield him, the attacker – now identified as Cristian Moya – used a broken bottle to deliver fatal blows.
Police video shows Moya, in a yellow jacket, jumping wildly before plunging the bottle into Cabrera’s chest. He fled the scene immediately, sparking a two‑day manhunt. He was apprehended around 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Bronx.
Cabrera was rushed in a private vehicle to BronxCare Health Systems, then transferred to Lincoln Hospital in the Bronx, where she was pronounced dead. Police say the fight broke out in front of the nightclub’s exit, involving several men who were seen fighting outside the club’s doors.
The arrest highlights rising concerns about violence after dark in New York City nightlife spots. Moya now faces a battery of criminal charges and awaits arraignment.
