Chennai: An enthusiastic shout‑out came from veteran director Vysakh, who is keen to see Mammootty’s performance in Jithin K Jose’s upcoming Malayalam film Kalamkaval—set to hit theaters on Friday. While he’s currently busy helming Prithviraj Sukumaran‑starrer Khalifa, Vysakh took to Instagram to give a heartfelt nod to the Malayalam legend, noting that few actors “don’t just act… they evolve” and that Mammootty “pushes boundaries” and restores our faith in cinema. “Some actors don’t just act… they evolve. They push boundaries. They make us believe again. And seeing Mammukka step into every new character with fresh fire — that’s a privilege we deeply cherish as an audience. Eagerly waiting to witness how you conquer this character!” he wrote.
He also sent best wishes for Kalamkaval, hoping it adds another shining chapter to Mammootty’s storied journey, and reached out to Vinayakan, director Jithin K Jose and other team members. His note to Vinayakan read, “Vinayakan — can’t wait to experience the intensity you’ll bring to the screen. Truly excited this time! Warmest wishes to director Jithin K Jose and writer Jishnu Sreekumar — your passion deserves to echo through every single seat in the theatre. Congratulations and all the best to dearest George Chettan and #mammoottykampany , the strong creative force behind this film.” He closed with, “First day, first show — booked. Because when certain films arrive… we show up with full hearts.”
- Kalamkaval, featuring Mammootty and Vinayakan in the leads, will debut worldwide on December 5. The Film Certification Board has already granted it a U/A certificate; Mammootty himself confirmed the clearance, tweeting, “#Kalamkaval Censored with U/A 16+ Certificate. In Cinemas Soon.” The film has already sparked huge buzz since the teaser dropped, with reports that the story and screenplay were penned by Jithin K Jose and Jishnu Sreekumar, editing by Praveen Prabhakar, cinematography by Faisal Ali, music by budding composer Mujeeb Majeed, and stunts by Action Santhosh. Rumor mills suggest that Mammootty will portray a character with shades of gray, promising a fresh and daring performance unlike anything seen before.
