India’s Ambassador to Ireland, Akhilesh Mishra, met with Liam Herrick, Chief Commissioner of the Irish Human Rights and Equality Commission, in Dublin to address concerns about racist incidents targeting the Indian community in Ireland. The meeting focused on ensuring the safety and rights of Indian nationals and fostering a stronger partnership to combat discrimination.
The Indian Embassy in Dublin shared details of the productive discussion on X, highlighting the need for joint efforts to protect the Indian diaspora and other communities in Ireland. Mishra praised Herrick’s visit to the embassy, where they exchanged views on tackling racism and ensuring safety for all.

Herrick outlined the Commission’s ongoing efforts to monitor and address racism in workplaces, schools, and society. He assured full support to the Indian Embassy and the Indian community, which contributes significantly to Ireland’s economy, technology, healthcare, and cultural diversity.
Mishra expressed gratitude for the Commission’s cooperation and emphasized the potential for deeper collaboration between the Irish Human Rights and Equality Commission and India’s National Human Rights Commission. Both sides agreed to share experiences and innovative approaches to tackle human rights challenges.
